Liliane Lijn: Six Decades of Seriously Cool Art

Back in the early 60s, Liliane Lijn was already way ahead of the curve. Her kinetic sculptures were all about using new tech to help us "see the world as light and energy." And honestly, over her six-decade career, she's just kept pushing boundaries, doing her own thing, and basically refusing to be put in a box.

What makes her tick? She's super into the idea of showing us what's usually invisible. Liliane pulls inspiration from all over the place: think Surrealist ideas, ancient myths, and even feminist, scientific, and language theories. But it's not just the big ideas; the stuff she actually uses in her art is just as key – like plastics, prisms, feather dusters, and even copper wire. How cool is that?

Her exhibition, Arise Alive, is a fantastic journey through her entire career, from the late 1950s right up to now. You'll see everything from installations and sculptures to paintings and moving images. Plus, get ready to see her ongoing work creating awesome new feminine forms.

This amazing show was put together by Haus der Kunst Munchen and mumok – Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, and they've teamed up with Tate St Ives to bring it to us.
