As someone who was born here, in town, uplong to be precise!

let me tell you, St Ives isn't just a pretty face – it's a genuine tonic for your well-being, no matter the time of year! ☀️ You feel the difference in the air the moment you arrive. With its amazing oceanic climate, St Ives boasts some of the mildest winters and warmest summers you'll find anywhere in Northern Europe. And trust me, it's not just your imagination; it genuinely enjoys more sunshine than the national average! 🌞 Of course I’m biased, However Just breathing in that fresh sea air instantly makes you feel uplifted and ready for anything. This place just radiates good health and pure relaxation. 🧘‍♀️

It's no wonder St Ives has scooped up so many awards! It was crowned Best Seaside Town by The Guardian in 2007, and then again by the British Travel Awards in both 2010 and 2011. 🏆 Stepping into our iconic harbour, you'll immediately see why. Sheltered by its pier and the protective headland of St Ives Island, the old port is wonderfully peaceful. ⚓ Calm waters gently lapping against golden sands, creating a truly serene atmosphere. 🌊 If you're driving, take my advice and know where all carparks are a bit research will do you well, and if you’re planning on parking at the Island carpark best getter there before 7am as there will be potential que to get in. 🚗 As you get into the town, you’ll find it charming, winding cobbled streets and find plenty of opportunities for a delightful coffee, and always my favourite cake! 🍰

For me, though, the beaches are the absolute stars of St Ives. 🏖️ Harbour Sands, gently split by the tide, is exactly as calm and inviting as it sounds, thanks to that protective pier. The views across the harbour and town are simply breath taking! If you venture around the headland, you'll discover Bamaluz Beach, which feels like your own little secret, tucked away beneath a picturesque wall of cottages, suitable for dogs all year round, but do check the council website just to be sure. 🐾 Keep going, and you'll hit Porthgwidden Beach, a lovely sandy cove flanked by rocks and those adorable, colourful beach huts. 🌈 Then, a quick climb over "The Island" at St Ives Head reveals the magnificent Porthmeor Beach – half a mile of glorious golden sands that families and surfers absolutely adore! 🏄‍♀️

Porthmeor is honestly one of the top favourite beaches in Cornwall. Even on days when it's a bit too chilly for sunbathing, you’ll find tourists there, its sheer length makes for an incredible, refreshing walk, and the view up the coastline from the headland is utterly smashing, especially at sunset. 🌅 This whole area is also where St Ives truly shines as an arts hub (though, let's be honest, the whole town is pretty artsy!). 🎨 You'll find the Tate St Ives, Penwith Gallery, Atlantic, and a host of other fantastic spots like Salthouse Gallery and Porthmeor Studios. On our trip, we followed the South West Coast Path right off the beach and through the streets, peeking into open artist studios. We spent ages pottering around Whites Old Workshop on Porthmeor Road, a delightful maze of studios offering everything from mesmerising glass blowing to beautiful ceramics. It's a place that just sparks creativity and invigorates your spirit! ✨
