The 48-Day Deluge, Will it stop?

A Survival Guide to a Rainy Carbis Bay Retreat

Let’s be honest: Cornwall isn’t always about golden tans and turquoise waters. Sometimes, it’s about the dramatic Atlantic mist, the horizontal rain, and that unique Cornish wind that turns umbrellas inside out.

If you’ve been watching the forecast and feeling a bit "damp" about your trip, don't be. Oak & Willow Bungalow was designed for days exactly like this. Here is how to turn a rainy 48 hours into the ultimate "Slow-Down" stay.

The Art of the 'Indoor Adventure'

When the rain is lashing against the windows, our bungalow becomes a sanctuary. We’re big fans of the "Slow Morning" here.

  • The Routine: Kick off your shoes (our carpets thank you!), put the kettle on, and settle into the sofa with one of our local Cornish novels.

  • The Vibe: We keep our heating preset to "Toastie" so you can watch the storm from the comfort of the indoors without feeling the chill.

Dog-Friendly (And Mud-Friendly!) Fun

We know your four-legged friends need their exercise, rain or shine.

  • The Plan: Head out for a "Welly Walk" on the coast path—the cliffs look spectacular when they're moody.

  • The Return: We welcome up to two medium dogs, and we just ask that you give those paws a good wipe before they hit the carpets. There's nothing quite like a tired, happy dog sleeping by your feet while you enjoy a glass of wine.

St Ives Without the Crowds

The best part of a rainy day? You get the best spots in St Ives all to yourself.

  • Tate St Ives: Just a short hop away, it’s the ultimate rainy-day refuge. You can spend hours lost in the galleries and then grab a coffee in the rooftop cafe with a view of the storm over Porthmeor Beach.

  • The Royal Cinema: A cozy, independent classic. Catch a matinee and forget the weather outside exists.

Why Off-Season is the Best-Kept Secret

While our summer rates reflect the buzz of the high season, our £75 off-season rate is designed for the explorers, the writers, and the "cozy-seekers." It’s the price of a standard hotel room, but with a whole detached home, a private garden (for those brief gaps in the clouds!), and total peace.

The rain might not stop for another 48 days, but the kettle is always on at Oak and  Willow Bungalow. Come and find your cozy.
